How To Use YouTube To Drive Traffic To Your Blog
Once you have your blog set up, you will want to drive as much traffic to it as possible, preferably high quality buying traffic. One way this can be done is by creating videos and uploading them to video sharing sites such as YouTube. These sites have become incredibly popular, and YouTube itself was even bought out by Google. The first step is to sign up for a YouTube account. On the YouTube homepage, you will see a link saying “sign up”. Click this link, and you are taken to the page where you can sign up. You will need to select an account type, and there are special account types for different types of people. If you are a director, musician, comedian, or guru, you can create that type of account. If in doubt, choose the standard account.
As with most sign-ups to Internet services, you will need to provide an e-mail address and choose a password. You will then need to select a YouTube username, which can only contain the letters A-Z, and the numbers 0-9. You also need to tell them which country you are in, and in certain cases, you need to provide a postcode. You also need to tell them which gender and give your date of birth. Once this is done, you are then able to upload videos to YouTube, where they can be seen by the entire Internet community. If you wish to record a standard video, you will need a video camera or a web cam and recording software.
You can create other types of video without these. By getting hold of some screen capture software, such as Camtasia, you can create videos based on what is on your computer screen. This format is ideal if you are selling instructional material on Internet related subjects. Even if you are not, it is still possible to use pictures and websites to create a kind of infomercial, which you can use to inform people of your products and services, with the idea of driving the traffic to your own website.
Having created your video, you now need to upload it. You will need to provide a title, which should of course be search engine optimized, and also a brief description of your video. You can also provide tags, which will help other YouTube uses to find your video. You will need to select a category for your video, which you would want to do anyway as it increases the chances of other uses finding it. Once you have done this, your video should be uploaded and visible to the world, provided you have not made the mistake of choosing to keep it private!
Once the video is up on the Internet, it should attract a certain amount of traffic on its own. Other YouTube users should find the video purely through the tags you have set. Unless you are in a super competitive niche, you should also attract some traffic from the organic search engine listings. That is not all you can do to promote the video. You can write articles and submit them to directories, you can make comments on other people’s blogs with a link back to your video, and you can submit to the social bookmarking sites.
