How to sell informational products on eBay
It can't be done, they say. Selling informational products on eBay. Every ebook which gets listed on eBay just gets listed for under a dollar, and no one can possibly make money from them. To a degree, the traditional wisdom is right, and there are certainly many ebooks selling for pennies, often by multiple sellers. What needs to be understood is that this is not always a negative phenomenon, or even unintended. Someone selling ebooks with master resell rights knows they will end up all over eBay being sold for pennies. That is what they intend to happen.
By selling an ebook with your links inside it in this way, there is the possibility that it will go viral and end up in the hands of far more people than it would have done had the vendor just sold it themselves with no resell rights. This is one approach, and there is nothing wrong with it as long as you know what you are doing, and why you are doing it. To be truthful, most information selling on eBay, even by a master of the art like John Thornhill, is done with the idea of capturing email addresses from eBay's huge traffic stream, which can be used for future mailings.
Although you can, and should, make every possible use of your “About Me” page to advertise your own business and promote your sites, you also need to think about producing a large number of low priced value for money ebooks. Selling these will give the customer a good initial deal, and make them receptive to future offers. If they give you their email address, you can send them those offers directly, and any sales will be free of eBay fees. That is the primary function of selling information on eBay. Even if you only broke even on your eBay activity, it would still be more than worthwhile if it led to you building an eager list of customers, who you could then market future products to at extremely low charge.
