Three Ideas To Make Money

August 31st, 2009 Comments Off Posted in make money

In these recessionary times, it seems like everybody is looking for a new source of income. Out of the goodness of my heart, I’m here to present you with a list of four guaranteed ideas to make money. These require no special skills, no significant time involvement, and while they may not let you quit your day job, they’ll bring in a little extra cash every month, which as you well know can make all the difference. Let’s get to it!

The first no-stress idea to make money is microworking. This new way to make cash was trailblazed by Amazon.com’s Mechanical Turk service. The general idea behind the microworking concept is simple – small jobs for small amounts of money. These are tasks that require a human’s intelligence to complete, due to cultural or linguistic abilities that a computer doesn’t have. Some sample tasks include spellchecking, describing rugs, and evaluating search results. Each one only pays a few cents, and takes a minute or two, but the cash can add up, especially if you use downtime at your job to microwork.

The second item on my list of no-stress ideas to make money is affiliate marketing. You have probably heard this term being bandied around the Internet in recent years as a simple way to drive traffic and earn money, and I am happy to report that it does work. The essential way that affiliate marketing works is by motivating individuals (known as affiliates) to drive traffic and customers to Web sites. For each customer that is delivered and makes a purchase, the affiliate earns a commission.  The best thing about being an affiliate is that once you set up your account, the program runs itself – all you need to do is make simple links on your blog, web site, Facebook page – hell, even your Twitter updates! Again, the success of this program is contingent on how much money your readers spend, but every little bit helps.

And the last of my 21st century ideas to make money is online sales and auctions. eBay is the most famous and popular internet marketplace, but there are many other alternatives from a number of major retailers. This is basically the digital equivalent of holding a yard sale, but with the added advantage of being able to capture customers from all over the world. The fees for placing items for sale on these sites are usually minimal, and with well-written descriptions and clear photographs of your items, you’re more likely than not to find a buyer, especially if the item has nostalgic or collector’s value. Some entrepreneurs even scour thrift shops, free boxes and garbage heaps for items that they can flip online for quick cash.

Here’s hoping you use one or all of my ideas for making money with your computer and help bring this country out of the economic crunch that it’s in.

Computer Jobs At Home: Could You Do This?

August 30th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in work from home

The number of people doing computer jobs at home has rocketed in the past few years, and it is all because of email and the internet. In fact, the real success story of the internet is the freedom that it has given us to work how we want.

This is something that has come about due to the ability to send work from one computer in one place to another computer somewhere else. Very often, businesses hire people on the other side of the globe. It does not matter that their business hours are in a different time zone. The internet is online 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Finding these jobs is often a simple matter of looking at search results on the internet and making contact with someone who needs work done. Look for freelancing sites or advertisements. Craigs List is another useful web site for this type of work.

In order to apply for computer jobs at home you will, of course, need a good computer that is connected to the internet. You will need to be comfortable with using email and browsing the web. If you have more skills, such as HTML or PHP coding, web site design, setting up blogs, article writing etc then you can apply for a wider range of work and probably earn more money. In fact, if you want to earn enough to live on by working on your computer at home, it would be worth following some of the free online tutorials to learn some of these skills. If you demonstrate a strong ability to do whatever work you take on, you very quickly build up a résumé that will serve you well.

The majority of office work these days is transferable to working at home. There are few offices now that do not do the majority, if not the entirety of their work via computers. This translates very neatly into working at home, as the work that office workers do on a computer can be done equally easily on a home personal computer or laptop. Email and shared access websites make delivery of the work as simple as dropping the work on a boss’s desk.

Unfortunately this does not mean that if you currently work full time in an office, the boss will let you work from home instead. Unless they value you so highly that they will let you do whatever you want, they probably want to see you in the building. However, it means that some companies are cutting back on regular staff in order to hire people who can work from home. This has revolutionized the system of doing work to order, and has freed up countless people to work from home. It also means that a whole section of society, previously tied to unemployment by circumstance, can now to work in their own time and make some money doing previously office-based computer jobs at home.

This is something that has made a profound difference to the lives of many people. Those who are mobility impaired or agoraphobic, for example, or those with small children, had trouble finding any kind of work that they could do in the past. The internet and the home working revolution have changed all that. For others, it may be a matter of wanting to be able to spend time with their family without disappearing from the workforce completely. Computer jobs at home have made a huge difference to many lives.
